Former Portland Trail Blazers’ forward Cheap Al-Farouq Aminu Jersey underwent a minor surgery to address swelling in his right knee yesterday according to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports. The swelling is a result of a torn meniscus suffered by Aminu that marked the end of his season. This surgery will push back Aminu’s first game of the season for the Magic back from the season opener.
Aminu suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee back in January but had a setback in his recovery and needed this surgery to clean this up and speed his recovery. There is no timetable for Aminu’s return, but Magic coach Steve Clifford said he was “a ways away” from starting contact drills.
Aminu was expected to have an increased role during the 2020-2021 season due to the torn meniscus and ACL of Magic forward Jonathan Isaac, which he suffered in the bubble during a seeding game.
Aminu averaged 4.3 points and 4.8 rebounds for the Magic last season while shooting 39.1% from three in his eighteen games played before tearing his meniscus.
